Baroque collaborated alongside Elle and Glamour magazines, and the Platinum Guild to give their readers the chance to win the opportunity to submit a platinum ring design of their own and for Baroque to create the one-off piece in our on-site workshop. The competition was centred around giving others a chance to flex their creative flair and to raise awareness about the unique properties of Platinum. Needless to say the whole process was pretty exciting and we met a lot of lovely people on the way-in particular the competition winner Katy Hymas.
Katy’s design was chosen based on the design itself, and the story behind it all- and we love a good story!
‘My Grandma and Grandad, the greatest love story I have ever known. A ring inspired by Grandma’s vintage earrings, in a precious metal that never tarnishes, would be a daily reminder of the power of a love that never fades’
‘based on Grandma’s earrings, twelve platinum teardrops create a flower shape. The edge of each teardrop is created with a series of platinum dots. A diamond is bead set in the based of each tear with an additional platinum ‘dot’ above it. The raised centre of the flower comprises an additional bead set diamond set with six small platinum heart shapes. The ring itself is a narrow platinum band with small bead set diamonds along the front.’
